Key Features of White Proso Millet Seed are:

Wildlife Attraction: Proso Millet produces small white grains that are highly desirable to mourning doves, quail, turkey, pheasants, and other game and songbirds.

Low Water Requirements: White Proso Millet is a relatively low-water-use crop and can perform well in areas with limited moisture compared with many other grain crops.

Short Growing Season: Typically reaches maturity in approximately 60 to 90 days, making it useful for short-season plantings and as a rotational or emergency crop.

Versatile Use: Can be planted for wildlife food plots, birdseed production, grain, forage, and warm-season cover crop applications.

Adaptability: Performs well on well-drained soils and is widely adapted across the United States when planted under suitable warm-season conditions.

Planting and Seeding Rates

Optimal Temperature: Plant when soil temperatures reach approximately 55°F to 65°F. White Proso millet can germinate at cooler temperatures than many other warm-season millet species, but warm soil promotes faster establishment.

New Plantings: White Proso Millet Seed for grain or general production, use approximately 15 to 25 pounds per acre when drilled. Higher rates may be appropriate for broadcast plantings or when establishing wildlife food plots.

Wildlife Food Plots: A broadcast rate of approximately 20 to 30 pounds per acre can be used depending on the desired stand and planting conditions.

Planting Depth: Plant approximately 1/2 to 3/4 inch deep. Avoid planting too deeply, particularly in heavy or crust-prone soils.
